Note by the Secretariat

1. At its first session, the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee asked the Secretariat to prepare a description of existing global, regional and bilateral programmes providing technical and financial assistance with regard to the management and elimination of chemicals (UNEP/POPS/INC.1/7, para. 62(a)). In response to this request, the Secretariat prepared document UNEP/POPS/INC.2/5. In it reference is made to the second edition of the "Inventory of activities - Summary report" prepared by the Inter-Organization Programme for the Sound Management of Chemicals (IOMC).

2. The report is annexed to this note for the information of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee. This information is provided as submitted by the secretariat of IOMC and has not been formally edited.
