to assist countries implementing
actions on POPs under the Stockholm Convention
UNEP Chemicals is seeking to expand its roster of experts to assist countries developing National Implementation Plans (NIPs) under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). Each Party to the Stockholm Convention is required to develop a NIP describing how they will meet the obligations set by the Convention. Developing countries and countries with economies in transition are eligible for GEF capacity building support for enabling activities to strengthen their ability to implement a systematic and participatory process for the preparation of the NIPs. UNEP maintains a roster of experts to assist countries with various aspects of the preparation of the NIP. These experts contribute to capacity building in the countries by assisting national project teams in the execution of relevant activities, by supporting the technical work and providing advice and necessary training in specified fields of expertise. An indication of the fields of expertise is attached. Should you have expertise in one or more relevant fields, identified above and be interested to assist countries meet their obligations under the Stockholm Convention, please notify UNEP Chemicals by providing the information on-line through the UNEP Chemicals homepage.
