UNEP/WHO human milk survey

Under the Stockholm Convention Global Monitoring Plan on Persistent Organic Pollutants the Secretariat of the Stockholm Convention is launching in cooperation with WHO-GEMS Food a POPs survey in human milk.

The main purpose of this survey is production of additional information to improve the geographic coverage with core media data (human milk or blood and ambient air) in order to establish the baseline levels for future effectiveness evaluation of the Stockholm Convention.

During a series of regional workshops, gaps in geographic coverage with core media data have been identified, as well as counties from which human milk data should be produced to fill these gaps.

The survey is supported by the Secretariat and implemented in cooperation with WHO-GEMS Food.

The Secretariat is inviting countries to participate in the survey and express their interest, as well as willingness to contribute in-kind to collection of the sample.
