COP Bureau Meeting 2012

The Bureau reviewed progress made to-date to implement the decisions taken by the Stockholm Convention COP at its fifth meeting in 2011. This included a review of the synergies decisions, which were respectively adopted by the COPs to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions in 2011.

Furthermore, the Bureau discussed arrangements to prepare for the next meeting of the Stockholm Convention COP and considered a draft proposal of the Executive Secretary to hold the ordinary and extraordinary COPs of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions, in a coordinated manner, in 2013.

Ten members of the Bureau (or replacement of Bureau members) participated in this meeting. The POPRC Chair attended the meeting, as an ex-officio member. On the Secretariat side, Jim Willis and David Ogden along with several other staff members were present.
