In decision SC-10/17, the COP emphasized the need for Parties to intensify their efforts to ensure the timely submission of national reports. COP-15 urged Parties to submit their fifth national report by 31 August 2022, to facilitate processes that rely on national reporting data like the effectiveness evaluation of the Convention.
As per paragraph 4 of decision SC-10/17, the Secretariat is requested to:
- further improve the electronic reporting system as requested in decision SC 9/16, taking into account the proposed revision to the format for national reporting concerning information on polychlorinated biphenyls
- update the electronic reporting system to include the chemicals listed in Annex A to the Convention pursuant to decision SC-10/13, for consideration by the Conference of the Parties at its eleventh meeting
- further improve the electronic reporting system so that it allows for the online visualization of information related to paragraph 2 (d) of Article 20 of the Convention, for consideration by the Conference of the Parties at its eleventh meeting
According to paragraph 5, if resources are available, the Secretariat is also requested to:
- provide feedback to Parties regarding the submission of their national reports, with a view to improving the quality and completeness of the reported data and information
continue to undertake capacity-building and training activities to support Parties, in particular developing-country Parties and Parties with economies in transition, in submitting their national, in cooperation with the Stockholm Convention regional centres or other partners.
