Comments from Parties, observers and other relevant experts on previous versions of the draft guidance on the identification and management of sites contaminated with persistent organic pollutants

Please note that the February 2025 finalized draft version of the guidance on best available techniques and best environmental practices for the management of sites contaminated with persistent organic pollutants prepared by the BAT and BEP experts, taking into account comments from Parties, observers, and other relevant experts, has been posted here for consideration by the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention.

May 2024 version of the draft guidance

In decision SC-11/5, the Conference of the Parties requested the experts on the Toolkit and on best available techniques and best environmental practices to continue the work on the ongoing review and update of the guidelines and guidance in accordance with the workplan for the 2023–2024 intersessional period set out in the annex II of document UNEP/POPS/COP.11/8.

The work to collect and evaluate information relevant to the identification and management of sites contaminated with POPs for developing relevant guidance was identified by the BAT and BEP experts as a priority area of work within the workplan, and accordingly, Parties and observers were invited to submit comments on the May 2024 version of the guidance by 1 August 2024.

Comments on the June 2021 version of the guidance on the identification and management of sites contaminated with persistent organic pollutants (UNEP/POPS/COP.10/INF/67)

At the online segment of the tenth meeting, the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention invited Parties and observers to provide comments on the initial draft guidance on the identification and management of sites contaminated with persistent organic pollutants (UNEP/POPS/COP.10/INF/67) by 1 December 2021. The comments received have been made available here.
