The objective of ambient air sampling is to obtain representative data for assessing the baseline levels and changes in concentrations over time and space as well as the regional and global transport of POPs. Air monitoring activities are implemented in the five UN regions in cooperation with a number of strategic partners:
- Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP)
- Global Atmospheric Passive Sampling (GAPS) Network
- East Asia Air Monitoring Program
- European Monitoring and Evaluation Programme (EMEP)
- Integrated Atmospheric Deposition Network (IADN)
- Research Centre for Toxic Compounds in the Environment (RECETOX)
