At its ninth meeting, the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention adopted decision SC-9/12 to list perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), its salts and PFOA-related compounds in Annex A to the Convention with specific exemptions. The amendment will enter into force for most Parties on 3 December 2020.
In its decision SC-9/13, the Conference of the Parties noted that in order to support Parties and facilitate the identification of substances and understanding of the listing, an initial indicative list of substances has been prepared as set out in document UNEP/POPS/POPRC.13/INF/6/Add.1. The Conference of the Parties invited Parties and others to take into account the information available in document UNEP/POPS/POPRC.13/INF/6/Add.1 and to provide further information regarding the identification of substances covered by the listing of PFOA, its salts and PFOA-related compounds. The Secretariat was requested to compile the information submitted by Parties and others and to establish an indicative list of PFOA, its salts and PFOA-related compounds in consultation with the POPs Review Committee. The indicative list will be made available on the website and updated periodically.
A letter dated 12 June 2019 requesting the submission of the information was sent to Parties and observers.
