Guidance on BAT and BEP relevant to the chemicals listed in Annex A or B to the Convention

The work to update or develop new guidance on BAT and BEP relevant to the chemicals listed in Annex A or B to the Convention has been identified by the experts as a priority area of work within their workplan.

The following three guidance documents have been identified as a priority are being updated or newly developed with the support of the expert roster and taking into account comments received from Parties and observers:

  • Guidance on best available techniques and best environmental practices relevant to UV-328 listed under the Stockholm Convention
  • Guidance on best available techniques and best environmental practices relevant to short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) listed under the Stockholm Convention
  • Guidance on best available techniques and best environmental practices relevant to the polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and Dechlorane Plus (DP) listed under the Stockholm Convention

Parties and observers were invited to submit comments by 16 September 2024 on the July/August 2024 versions of these guidance (see below).

Draft updated guidance on best available techniques and best environmental practices relevant to the polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and Dechlorane Plus (DP) listed under the Stockholm Convention

The March 2021 version of this guidance document which has been developed to guide Parties in their actions to prevent or reduce releases of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) from the uses/applications under the specific exemptions listed in the Convention, is currently being updated to include information on Dechlorane Plus.
