Monitoring activities under the global monitoring plan are focused on generating measurement data from core media: ambient air, human milk and human blood, and surface water for water-soluble POPs (perfluorooctane sulfonic acid, its salts and perfluorooctane sulfonyl fluoride; perfluorooctanoic acid, its salts and PFOA-related compounds; perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), its salts and PFHxS-related compounds).
Monitoring data from the first, second and third phases of the global monitoring plan are available through the online GMP data warehouse. The data warehouse supports the GMP data collection and handling along with data analysis and visualization, and assists the regional organization groups and the global coordination group in producing the regional and global monitoring reports. It constitutes a publicly available repository of valuable information that can serve as a useful resource for policy makers and researchers worldwide.
